Amano is so effective at creating such foreign landscapes as the one in this drawing.
Such cities so complex, so real that to an outsider none of it makes sense.
The mechanics are not logical.
And so we have to stand aside, apart from everything else.
And only there, on the horizon, the edge of civilization, a bright splash of red on a canvas of black and white, the only living thing in a landscape of metal, can we actually make anything of it.
